Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent trip to Lakshadweep has captured the island lovers. Literally, a 'thousand islands' in Sanskrit and Malayalam, the Union Territory is a group of 36 islands located off the coast of Kerala. The picturesque islands have long been touted as a 'hidden gem' for Indian tourists. Culturally, the islands are unique with Androth, Kavaratti, Kalpeni, Ameni and Agathi believed to be the first few islands to be inhabited. It's all about pristine white sandy beaches, crystal blue waters, stunning coral reefs and a peaceful holiday in Lakshadweep. It is important to note that the entry to the islands is restricted. An entry permit issued by the Lakshadweep Administration is required to visit the destination. Here, we bring you pictures of Lakshadweep that capture the enthralling beauty of the beaches.
