Environmental organizations are criticizing the Russian government for their inaction as an area larger than Greece has been burnt down during the Siberian wildfires. Siberia, which is one of the coldest places in Russia sees massive wildfires for the first time. When the burning of the Amazon was at its peak in August last year, the world reacted with fury to the fires by protesting in dozens of cities, threatening financial penalties, and broad condemnation of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro's environmental policies. Despite the escalation of the issue and various climate change protests, we continue to see wildfires across the world. Australia saw one of the worst wildfires in 2019-20 and the NWS police had charged at least 24 people for deliberating starting bushfires. They also took legal actions against 183 people for fire-related offences since November 2019. Here are some pictures.
