These things went viral during the pandemic

Tik Tok/Reels: Everyone had their eyes glued to their screens watching 15 seconds of creative dances, DIY’s, song cover’s, fashionable trends and so much more. Tik Tok and Instagram Reels became the new past time on social media.

Among us: Imagine a game being so overplayed, that the server would crash sometimes! Yes, among us was being downloaded on every other phone during the lockdown. Everyone seemed to love the little game of ‘who is the imposter’.

Dalgona Coffee: Posting stories and pictures, everyone was trying out the recipe for Dalgona Coffee. The frothy coffee beverage recipe spread like wildfire on social media.

Dating apps: “what brings you here?” “The pandemic”. This became the ice breaker for all who started downloading dating apps. Tinder and Bumble bios were filled with “let me take you out before Corona does”.

Memes: This took the internet by storm, people started to come up with hilarious ways to entertain themselves and the others around them. Some meme trends that went viral were : Binod memes, WWWIII memes, Area 51 and Yoda memes.

Home Workout: With nowhere to go most people started to do home workouts. Investing in yoga matts and dumbbells, people started to take 30 days challenges seriously.

Streaming platforms: With movie theatres all on lockdown, our film fanatics moved to streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime. Many streaming platforms even brought out new series on their platforms to keep all of us entertained.

Trending songs: Some songs that were on loop and trending were Deathbed by Powfu, Supalonely by BENEE, Yellow Hearts by Ant Saunders and many more. Everyone was humming these tunes.

Zoom/ Google meet: Classes, Meetings, Birthday calls all were being attended by just a click of a link. A long-lasting trend, this app is still being used Mid 2021.

Houseparty: A virtual party? Yes please! This app had over 50 million downloads, friends and family would just drop in a text saying, “want to houseparty?”.
