Swara Bhasker hits back at a troll, who alleged Deepika Padukone took Rs 5 cr to attend JNU protest

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone surprised everyone when she visited Delhi's JNU earlier this year in January and expressed solidarity with JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh, which became the major topic of discussion on social media. While Deepika did not speak, but instead only made her presence felt. The actress faced severe backlash as well as equal amounts of support from her fans and the industry. Now, rumours about Deepika's JNU appearance are doing rounds on the internet, which stated that the actress allegedly charged Rs 5 crore for her presence at the JNU campus. While Deepika has not reacted to such rumours, Swara Bhasker hits back at one such user who tweeted, "Deepika padukone took 5 crores for her 2 minutes appearance in JNU for Anti-CAA protests while @ReallySwara could only manage a C-grade web series despite artistically screeching against CAA for an year Bhagwan kisi ko depression de de lekin Communism na de." To which Swara replied, "The kind of idiotic misinformation that is peddled ceaselessly by RW about #Bollywood is partly why we as a public accept any kind of conspiracy theory- however vulgar and outlandish! A rampant culture of stupidity." For the unversed, Deepika Padukone visited the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus and attended a public meeting on January 7, 2020. It was called by the JNU Teacher's Association and JNU Students' Union in response to attack on students and teachers by a masked mob, who were armed with sticks and rods.
